What are a few theories behind april fools?

In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a new calendar (the Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new calendar called for New Year's Day to be celebrated Jan. 1. That year, France adopted the reformed calendar and shifted New Year's day to Jan. 1. According to a popular explanation, many people either refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it, and continued to celebrate New Year's Day on April 1. Other people began to make fun of these traditionalists, sending them on "fool's errands" or trying to trick them into believing something false.

I'm really lost  as to what the last word of the quote is so lets just pretend it says smart.... It's better to be a nice person than act superior than others, yes you may be magnetically awesome but people just wont like you if you keep telling them every single day how you are better then them.

Reflection:

This seems like the perfect job for someone who doesn't want to be in contact with the patients. But they also seem to be helping with research the doctors would be needing. I really don't see myself working as this because I would love to interact with patients, I will feel like if I'm helping either way but it's just not something I'm really into.

Bands have Saved my LIFE!!!

Many people call me emo because of the type of music I listen to... Sleeping with Sirens, Pierce the Veil, Black Veil Brides etc. If you think these bands are shit then think again because these bands are the reason I'm still here today. All the music on the radio now in days is trash... they don't talk about how they truly feel about life and other things they sing about drugs and different things. While bands sing about love, death, life in general. I'm Not Emo, Scene, or a metal head...don't come tell me what I'm Suppose to hear or not because labels are the things that are tearing our society apart. If you want to consider me an emo then I'm okay with that because I listen to most amazing music that will make you realize didnt things about the way we live. Bands have saved my life they are the reason why I keep on going everyday.

St. Patrick's Day 

1.Who was St. Patrick?
St. Patrick, or the "Apostle of Ireland," actually started out in the pagan religion. His family were romans living in  Britain, going back to Ireland for mission work after finding a place as a cleric and then Bishop within the Christian faith.  He was born around 460, and by the 600s, he was already known as the Patron Saint of Ireland.

2.What is the purpose of St. Patrick's Day?

This first celebration of the holiday in the colonies was largely to honor and celebrate the Irish culture that so many colonists had been separated from.

3.Why is St. Patricks Day designated when it is? 

It is designated on March 17th because it is said that St. Patrick died that day around or in year 493

4.Why a certain color on St. Patricks Day?

I think it just represents the color of the shamrock. 

Keith and the Touchdown 

The football team of the middle school Olivet, gave Keith the chance to score a touchdown. They had planned this already but they hadn't told there couch I'm not sure who came up with the idea but the plan was to get as close to the score line  as they could to have Keith make the touchdown. You can't really see keith because the guys were protecting him from any hits and they quickly rushed to the touchdown line and he had his time of glory. I find this very inspiring because they let him live a very special moment which was to score his very first touchdown.

 Volunteer Opportunities

Children's Hospital Los Angeles:

•  Summer Jr. Program
• Junior volunteers provide service to patients, families and staff, while gaining experience and self-confidence.
• Volunteer opportunities do not include job shadowing or internship experiences. Duties may include: family and visitor escort, bringing play carts to common areas and administrative support.
• Contact with inpatients will be very limited 

Requirements:

• Must be able to volunteer 3 times per week 
• 3.5 hours per day ( solid blocks of time)

Mitch 

What Mitch did for his father is truly amazing. He was willing to do anything to give his father some joy and help him forget he was sick. He managed to make his father happy not because he won but because of the meaning behind him winning which was to have his father forget that he was sick. The lesson I learned from this is that the love that you have for your parents will always be a modevation for you to make them happy.
